Purpose

In the beginning, my Father's words came as a flood, carrying with them great confusion, and I could not understand the purpose in joining my mind to His. In questioning I doubted, and in that doubt sought to devise a test.

To confound Him, I posed a question to which I believed could come no answer.

“Tell me Father, what is the purpose of my life?”

And without hesitation He replied, “to write your name.”

In that simple reply God stated the purpose in being for each of us. You write your name for present and future generations not in terms of wealth or status, but in terms of love and service to others. You write your name with a hand guided by love, and a pen that flows with the free giving of yourself.

This concept of love is not new it is fundamental to His path and has been taught many times in the past. That the demonstration of love is the single purpose for each of our lives, however, is asserted and made clear. This is the reason we have been created. All else that we do in life is subordinate to this, our primary vocation.

How each of us manifests that purpose is for us to conceive. The ways to express such love are innumerable for love is a work of many means, all contributing to the construction of a single sturdy House capable of withstanding the most violent of storms.

Many of us live in the absence of purpose and direction. We wonder why we were created and for lack of a worthy answer pass our time in self-gratification with the transient pleasures of life. And when we are gone, little of value remains.

Too many of us view our lives

as isolated, independent events unrelated to those of others. These lives are devoid of responsibility.

You waste your existence if you follow this path, never giving of yourself, shirking your responsibility to others.

View your life in context with

the chain that is the life of Man

for God views you as a vital link.

You are not a single being

but many.

You are the product

of all that came before

and the foundation

for all that follows.

We are the product of a thousand generations, and a foundation for the thousand to come. We embody all that came before in substance and in spirit, just as the yet to be born will embody us. They are our true legacy, They are your true legacy. They are all of lasting value that remains when we are gone. They are all that is worth struggling to protect and preserve.

We connect the past with the future.
You connect the past with the future.
You are important.
